Teacher�s Day observed at Goalpara

GOALPARA, Sept 6 - The 56th Teacher�s Day was organised centrally by the district administration in association with the District Education Department here at the Natyasurya Phani Sarma memorial auditorium on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Ghanshyam Das who presided over the meeting greeted all the teachers for playing a critical role in educating the children and shaping their futures. He urged all teachers to adopt a system of value- based education and to inculcate ethics conducive to shaping the students as good human beings who can play a positive role in building up the society.

The chief guest, principal of Dudhnoi College Dr Gopal Phukan in his keynote speech paid rich tributes and deliberated upon the life of the great philosopher Dr S Radhakrishnan and urged the teachers and students to follow the same principles to build a society of his dreams. Special guest former principal BN College, Dhubri, Dr Ahizuddin Sheikh dwelt on the contributions of Dr Radhakrishnan in the field of higher education and appealed to all the teachers to impart quality education to the students.

Meanwhile, the appointed speaker, a national award winning teacher spoke on improving the financial status of the teachers and at the same time urged the teachers to improve the quality of school education. Earlier Parmeswar Das, retired principal of JN Memorial HS School, Agia inaugurated the opening session while Dibakar Das, president of the Goalpara branch Sahitya Sabha released the souvenir. A total of 26 college and school teachers were felicitated with a japi, gamusa and a sarai on the occasion.
