Teachers� body memo to CM over lynching of youth

GUWAHATI, June 1 - Asam Rajyik Prathamik Sikshak Sanmilani, the apex body of the primary school teachers of the State, today sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding stringent punishment to the culprits responsible for the death of a youth Debashish Gogoi.

Debashish (22) of Milgaon, Puthinadi in Mariani and his friend Aditya Das (23) of Deberapar Chariali, were allegedly beaten up by tea estate workers under Deberapar Police Outpost on Friday evening. Debashish succumbed to his injuries at the JMCH on Saturday night.

On Sunday, five persons were arrested and a magisterial inquiry was ordered by the Jorhat district administration today following lynching of the youth by workers at Gabroo Purbat Tea Estate, Mariani near the Assam-Nagaland border late on Friday afternoon.

�We have urged the Chief Minister to set up a fast track court to punish the culprits. Otherwise, such scenarios will rise again in the State,� general secretary of the Sanmilani Ratul Chandra Goswami said. Goswami added that Debashish�s father is headmaster of the Hindu Gaon Prathamik Vidyalaya and was also a former executive member of the Sanmilani.
