Teacher suspended for abusing girls

KOKRAJHAR, May 30 � Samir Ghosh, a science teacher of BPCM Babyland English Medium High School, Kokrajhar was temporarily suspended by the school authority over the allegation of abusing Class VII girl students on May 20. The action was taken on the complaints by the parents of the victims.

The DC of Kokrajhar, Thaneswar Malakar also immediately ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter after receiving the complaint against Ghosh by the parents.

It is reported that Ghosh, a science teacher of the school forced the students of class VII to stand up on the bench and hold their ears for not doing homework on May 20 last. It is also alleged that the said teacher took photographs of the girls with his mobile phone while they were standing on the bench holding their ears and posted those photographs to his Facebook account on the same day.

A section of parents of the girls have alleged that some of their children were suffering from mental trauma after the photographs were uploaded on Facebook and they were not willing to go to the school due to mental shock. The parents also demanded strict action against the alleged offender. Meanwhile, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Kokrajhar has lodged an FIR against the teacher at Kokrajhar Police Station. Several students� organizations like ABSU, AASU and others have also strongly condemned the teacher�s heinous deed and demanded stringent punishment.
