Teacher salaries to be online soon: Ronghang

DIPHU, Sept 14 - The Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang has said that the teachers of Karbi Anglong will receive their salaries online within a short span of time as all official procedures for uploading their required data are nearing completion.

�Teachers are the real motivators and educationalists that shape the future generations, the future of the society depends upon the teachers as a change in society can be brought through education. Teaching is a noble job, we cannot forget our teachers for their contribution and we need to pay our respect and honour to them,� Ronghang mentioned. �Because of the education which we received from our teachers, we have become what we are today. The salaries of teachers should be double the salaries of MPs, MLAs, and MACs,� the CEM added. He urged the teachers to extend their cooperation in improving education environment of the district.

Speaking on the occasion, noted educationist and former Asam Sahitya Sabha president Rongbong Terang said, �The work of a teacher is not easy. They have to train the children properly. But teachers are not getting salaries. If they don�t get salary, how can they feed their family? Salary of teachers should be regular then only they can teach.� Terang also recalled being disciplined by a teacher during his student life. He also recollected his fond memories when he was a teacher himself and used to receive respect and honour especially on Teacher�s Day as students came to wish him. He asked the students never to forget to pay due respects to their teachers for the love and affection they received from them.

MP Horensing Bey and EM for Higher Education, Jagatsing Engti were also present in the function. On the occasion, two retired teachers Rinu Rekha Baruah (Chandrasing High School, Diphu) and Rena Deb, Nandeswar Kakoti (headmaster, Chandrasing Terang ME School) were felicitated. The best teacher award was awarded to Mayna Rani Deb (headmistress, Vivekananda ME School).

The headmasters of Erudite Academy, which secured the highest pass percentage in last HSLC examination and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School which secured highest pass percentage in HS examination in Arts, Commerce and Science, were also felicitated on the occasion.
