MANGALDAI, May 22 - In an encouraging news for the committed and creative teachers� fraternity of Darrang district, Chandra Saharia, a teacher of Pokadoli Higher Secondary School under Sipajhar LAC in the district has been conferred with the first �Book Land Teachers� Excellence State Award-2018�sponsored by one of the pioneer publishing houses of the State Book Land Publication, Guwahati.

According to information received here, Saharia, also a former journalist and an accomplished writer was selected in the �Best Teaching-Learning Method� category. The award was ceremonially presented to Saharia by a former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Lakhi Nandan Bora in a public function organised on the occasion at the auditorium of Vivekananda Kendra, Guwahati. The award carries a trophy, a citation, a traditional sarai, seleng Sadar, Gamosa along with a cheque for Rs 12,000 . The award giving function was also graced by several leading academicians, writers etc., including Dr Hiralal Duwara, Dr Rohini Kr Barua, Dr Gautam Biswas and Swapnanil Barua among others.
