SILCHAR, Nov 5 - In a noble gesture, members of Inner Wheel Club, the women�s wing of the Rotary Club of Silchar extended a helping hand towards the female inmates and their children at the Silchar Central Jail on Monday.
As many as 15 children belonging to female inmates in the jail were presented stationary merchandise, copies and also assigned a teacher to impart regular lessons to the children aged between 3-8 years. Also, clothes and food packets were also distributed on the occasion.
�We are happy to extend our humble efforts for the children and the female inmates here. There will be a dedicated teacher to teach the children and we hope that the children would benefit from the initiative, said Jhumki Saha, president of the club.
On the other hand, Jailor Abhishek Sarkar and Jail Superintendent Satyendra Baishya appreciated the efforts of the club members and urged the female prisoners to avail the services for their betterment.
