SILCHAR, Nov 11 - Yet another tea garden in Cachar district has been shut down due to the extreme negligence and apathy of the garden management.
The Binnakandi Tea Garden under Lakhipur constituency is locked since November 8 as SK Singh, the garden manager is allegedly missing, putting the garden under lock and key and putting the life of more than 800 labourers in dire straits.
According to sources, there was a brawl between the garden labourers and the manager on November 7 regarding their pending dues. The manager assured the protesters of a response to their demands from the owners of the garden. But the manager along with commercial manager of the garden Arun Kumar Sharma allegedly fled from the garden. DN Baroi, leader of Cachar Cha Sramik Union informed that the Assistant Labour Commissioner has been informed about the issue.
