Tawang not to buy vegetables from outside

By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, April 2 - The Tawang district administration today decided not to procure any fresh vegetables from outside the district in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting convened by Tawang DC Sang Phuntsok and attended by representatives of NGOs and Bazaar Welfare Committees (BWCs). The ADCs of Lumla and Jang subdivisions were also present in the meeting.

It was unanimously decided not to procure any fresh vegetables from outside the district and the departments concerned were asked to mobilise the local vegetable growers so that the minimum requirements can be met.

A high-level committee under the chairmanship of Tawang DRDA Project Director Lobsang Tseten was formed to monitor the requirement of essential commodities in the district. Tawang LAMPs have been asked to procure potato, onion and other cereal commodities, stated an official release.

Some NGOs and BWCs have been delivering essential items to the public at their doorsteps, strictly following safety measures.
