By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Sept 12 - The two-day Tawang Maitree Diwas 2017 celebrations concluded on Monday at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.

Tawang Maitree Diwas is celebrated to foster friendship and to epitomize excellent relationship between the Indian Army and the local people.

The event was jointly organized by the Indian Army, Tawang District Administration and YUVAArunachal, an NGO under chief patronage of State Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Local MLA Tsering Tashi attended the second day of the event as the chief guest in presence of guests of honour Chairman of Department of Karmik and Adhyatmik Affairs (DoKAA) Jambey Wangdi and the Abbot of Tawang Monastery Tulku Gongkar Rinpoche.

The CM in his message, said, The beautiful relationship which has been built and maintained over ages will continue to safeguard the interest of our nation.

The MLA, in his speech, emphasised that such a noble event which couldnt take place for a period of six years (post tragic demise of former CM Dorjee Khandu in a chopper crash in 2011) should be made a calendar event, which, he felt will not only bridge the gap between the Army and the local civilians but also promote tourism in the long run.
