GUWAHATI, May 24 � On the occasion of completing two years of conquering the summit, Everesters Tarun Saikia and Manish Deka were felicitated by the Assam Rock and Sports Climbing Association and Purbodoi Sangha here today.
While Tarun climbed the world�s highest peak on May 18, Manish attained the feat on May 24, 2013.
To celebrate the occasion, the organisers held a felicitation meeting at the Purbodoi Sangha club house, which was presided over by senior journalist and secretary of the Sports Journalists Federation of India Subodh Malla Baruah.
Both the Everesters recalled their arduous journey to the highest peak. They also urged youngsters to take adventurous sports seriously. They thanked the people of the State for providing them encouragement and support.
Journalists Pulin Saha, Uday Borgohain and Anupam Nath, president of Purbodoi Nayan Ranjan Kalita also spoke on the occasion.
