GUWAHATI, Aug 26 - Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has tested positive for COVID-19. �I have been tested Covid-19 positive yesterday. People who came in contact with me during last few days should go for COVID test immediately,� he said in a tweet.
Gogoi was shifted to GMCH later in the day today.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wished the veteran Congress leader speedy recovery. �We have kept a team of doctors ready for best possible medical care and assistance to our revered senior leader,� Sarma said.
Over 20 public representatives have tested positive for the virus in the State till date.
Altogether 1973 new coronavirus cases were detected yesterday, taking the State�s tally to 94,592.
The number of discharged stands at 74814, while the death toll so far is 260.
Gogoi has been admitted at the new paying cabin of the hospital. A panel of nine doctors has been constituted for continuously monitoring his health. A member of the doctor�s panel has been asked to submit Gogoi�s medical status report daily at 5 pm.
