GUWAHATI, March 21 - The last rites of noted film producer Tapabrata Baruah were performed at the Navagraha cremation ground here this afternoon.

Baruah�s mortal remains were flown in last evening from New Delhi, where he passed away on Tuesday morning.

Earlier today, members of the film fraternity paid their last respects to the departed soul at his house located at Chandan Nagar at Survey area. Among those who paid their homage were veteran actor Nipon Goswami, actresses Moloya Goswami and Chetana Das, singer Malabika Bora, AASU leaders Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, Bipul Rabha and actors Kopil Bora and Rajiv Kro.

The funeral pyre was lit by his brother Priyabrat Baruah around 12.25 pm. The funeral proceeding was facilitated by the All Guwahati Students� Union.

The officers and staff of the Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation Ltd, while condoling Baruah�s demise, recalled his contributions towards the Assamese film industry.
