Talks between police, GMCH students inconclusive

GUWAHATI, May 12 � A meeting held between the Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) students and City Police in presence of the GMCH Superintendent and the president of the GMCH teachers� association ended on an inconclusive note today, with the students resolving to go ahead with an indefinite pen-down strike.

All emergency services, however, have been exempted from the purview of the strike on humanitarian grounds, a statement from the students and working doctors said.

�No consensus was reached from the discussion as the authorities/persons concerned were unable to provide any written or verbal assurance regarding the proposed security demands of the students and working doctors of GMCH,� the statement said.
