Talk on Manipur district creation issue on September 1

By NEWMAI NEWS

SENAPATI, Aug 26 - The next round of tripartite talk on the district creation issue will be held at Senapati on September 1 between Central Government, United Naga Council (UNC) and Manipur Government.

We have been waiting for final words from the Government whether they can really revoke the decision of the previous State Government in creating the new districts, Gaidon Kamei, president of UNC said on Friday. He also said that the BJP-led Government of Manipur is silent about what the earlier Congress Government led by Ibobi Singh had done.

Kamei said that the Naga people will take their own course of measures depending on the outcome of the September 1 tripartite talk. Our patience has run out now, stated the UNC president.

The last round of tripartite talk was held on May 19, 2018.

UNC has been demanding the revocation of the Manipur Government decision of December 8, 2016 that had created seven new districts.
