DIBRUGARH, Aug 1 � Several organisations of the Tai Ahom community today staged demonstration near the Office of the Deputy Commissioner here protesting the alleged derogatory statement made by Bhuyan, editor-in-chief of a Guwahati-based private satellite TV news channel, against Tai Ahom women on his Facebook account.
The Tai Ahom organizations � Tai Ahom Yuva Chatra Parishad, Tai Ahom Chatra Parishad and Tai Ahom Mahila Sammitee � today staged a protest march on the thoroughfares of the city here and then demonstrated with placards, banner and slogans near the DC Office.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister through the district administration, the organisations have demanded arrest of Bhuyan and demanded immediately dismissal of Bhuyan by the news channel.
