Sydney-bound flight lands safely after mayday call

By The Assam Tribune

SYDNEY, Oct 4: A United Airlines flight landed safely at Sydney Airport on Thursday after issuing a mayday call due to low fuel reserves, authorities said.

Flight UA839, carrying 194 people, had been on a 15-hour flight to the city from Los Angeles, the BBC reported.

The police said they activated a "full emergency response" shortly before the plane landed at 6.36 a.m.

United Airlines called it a mechanical issue and said all on board were safe. - IANS
