Swiss-German film Heidi to be screened today

GUWAHATI, Nov 24 - The Embassy of Switzerland in India in collaboration with Rangayan, the cultural wing of the North East Foundation, will screen a film Heidi at the Banikanta Kakati Auditorium of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra tomorrow, stated a press release issued here today.

The screening of Heidi, an original Swiss-German movie directed by Alain Gsponer, will begin at 5 pm.

To celebrate 70 years of Swiss-Indian friendship, the Embassy of Switzerland has been organising several programmes since August 2017, and initiating collaborations between Swiss and Indian artistes, scientists, business representatives, government officials and the civil society.

A Swiss-Indian friendship bus is travelling through India with two children's films from Switzerland � Heidi and My Life as a Zucchini, released in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Both films spread a message of friendship, understanding and inclusiveness.

Between March and May 2018, the bus has travelled through cities like Kolhapur, Belgaum, Mangaluru and Karaikudi, connecting with almost 10,000 children and adults. Starting October 5, the bus has travelled through Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, and Sikkim and has connected with more than 20,000 people.
