GUWAHATI, March 21 � The number of persons affected with swine flu across the State has risen to 22, the government said today, reports PTI.
According to an official release, the Health and Family Welfare Department said 22 persons had been detected positive with the deadly virus till Friday.
Out of them, nine persons have been detected with the H1N1 virus in Guwahati, while five have been detected in Dibrugarh, four in Jorhat, three in Sonitpur and one in Kamrup Rural districts, the release said.
So far, two persons have lost their lives � in Jorhat � due to swine flu. The release said adequate medicine stock is available in the State to deal with the situation.
The State government said it is alert in dealing with swine flu cases and prepared isolation wards in every district hospital across the State, besides setting up ICU units in the medical college hospitals. The Union government has classified the outbreak of swine flu in three categories � A, B and C.
While patients of A and B categories do not need hospitalisation, the C category requires urgent institutional medical attention.
Our Chabua correspondent adds: Meena Devi (40), wife of Mahesh Shah of Chabua town has been diagnosed H1N1 positive. She was admitted to the Chabua Referral Hospital, from where she was referred to the AMC in Dibrugarh.
As per information the Regional Research Laboratory at Bokel has diagnosed the patient as H1N1 positive.
