IMPHAL, July 17 - A swine flu case was detected in Manipur, Director of State Health Services K Rajo said here today.
Addressing a hurriedly called press conference at the Health Services department here this afternoon, Rajo said the H1N1 virus was detected in an 18 year-old male who is a resident of Imphal East district on July 13.
The patient was initially admitted in a private hospital here following report of fever, mouth ulcer, etc., from July 2-5. But he was shifted to a hospital in Guwahati where he died on July 15.
Appealing to the public not to panic, the Director said that the Health department is sharing the information in order to create awareness about the disease. He maintained that the State Government has taken up necessary steps to control new cases, if any.
The detection of the disease is the first of its kind in the State this year. The first case of Swine Flu was detected in Manipur in March 2015.
