�Swami Vivekananda�s speech sends message of love, humanism and brotherhood�

BOKAKHAT, Sept 12 - Under the joint auspices of the Bokakhat branch unit of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari and Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Bokakhat the World Brotherhood Day was observed in the meeting hall of Bokakhat Puja mandap on September 11 with a daylong programme. It needs to be mentioned that on this auspicious day, Swami Vivekananda, an epoch-making sage delivered a most substantial speech at World Religion Conference held at Chicago stressing on the ethics of ancient Hinduism that depicted love and philanthropy.

The daylong programme began with illumination by Dr Babulal More, retired Principal while a peace incantation was sung in the hall. Addressing the meeting as the appointed speaker Prasanta Saikia, Assistant Professor of Bokakhat JDSG College said that Swami Vivekananda�s speech sends a massage to the world about humanism, love and brotherhood which is the essence of Indian religion. It has also placed Indian philosophy at the top.

He further said Swami Vivekananda would be remembered by all for his depth of knowledge of Hinduism with special reference to the Vedas and as an epoch-making sage in the arena of peace, integrity and world brotherhood.

Utpal Doley, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat speaking as the chief guest also touched on various philosophical aspects of the sharp intellect of Swamiji. He hoped that such types of meetings and seminars organised by the Kendra would help the upcoming generation in the development of spiritual, mental and physical strength.

Earlier, Bhanu Baruah, �nagar sanchalika� presented the welcome address and expressed the significance of the day while Susamay Purakayasthya, senior office bearer spoke about the various activities of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari. Ritumoni Dutta, �vibhag pramukh� of nagar and Golaghat district also hinted at some of the Kendra�s works.

In sync with the function, a speech competition on the famous Chicago lecture of Swamiji was held with the participation of different college students including those from Bokakhat JDSG College, Kamargaon College and Kaziranga Junior College etc., where Anisa Upadhyaya (JDSG), was adjudged first, Rumi Borah (Kaziranga Junior College) and Puza Devi (JDSG College) were jointly second and Parismitta Thengal (Kaziranga Junior College) bagged the third prize respectively.
