Swacchathon 1.0 to be held in State

GUWAHATI, Aug 16 - The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation is organising �Swacchathon 1.0,� a Swachh Bharat hackathon event in Assam in which students, professionals and organisations including start-ups can come up with easy and affordable solutions to some of the burning problems and issues pertaining to the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission in the sanitation sector.

The problems which call for solution include (a) innovative, sustainable, environment-friendly and affordable toilet technology for hilly, dry, flood-prone and remote areas; (b) technological solutions to monitor usage of toilets; (c) technological solutions for bringing behavioural change for toilet usage and hygiene; (d) innovative models and methods to improve the operation and maintenance of school toilets; (e) innovative solutions for menstrual health management, and (f) innovative solutions for early decomposition of faecal matter.

The event will be held in three rounds. In Round I, participants will be required to make online entries on the MyGov portal (innovate.mygov.in). Subsequently, the selected participants will be required to present a live demonstration of their solutions in Round II. The finals will be held on September 8 and the winners will be announced after submission of the presentations by the participants.
