Suspension orders of power officials revoked

GUWAHATI, Oct 28 - Bowing to the pressure from the Association of Engineers, ASEB and of various sections of the public, the authorities of the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) and the Assam Energy Generation Corporation Ltd (AEGCL) today withdrew the October 13, 2016 suspension orders of the two general managers of the two power utilities.

The two general managers were placed under suspension on October 13, following the incident of two-minute disruption in power supply to the Nagaon Circuit House on October 12, when the Chief Minister was present there.

According to Utpal Gohain, general secretary of the Association of Engineers, ASEB, the suspension orders of Ranjit Kumar Nath, General Manager of the Nagaon Zone of Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) and Lankeswar Sarma, General Manager of Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Ltd (AEGCL), were revoked today on the basis of the report of the one-man enquiry commission headed by Rajen Deka, Chief General Manager (CGM), Distribution of the Central Assam Electrical Zone and the statements of the two general managers.
