GUWAHATI, Oct 23 - The ASEB Pensioners Association has come out against the recent suspension of two senior officials of APDCL and AEGCL.
ASEB Pensioners Association condemns the attitude of the management towards its officers and employees. Recently, two senior engineers of APDCL and AEGCL were placed under suspension for two-minute disruption of power supply at Nagaon Circuit House on October 12 where Chief Minister of Assam took rest. Interruption of power supply may occur due to technical and non-technical reasons. As 90 per cent of distribution lines are drawn overhead, lines may come in contact with birds or tree branches blown in by wind, resulting in disruption of power supply, the association said in a statement.
It added, But in this case, it was technical, i.e. failure of machinery parts which was rectified immediately there was no negligence of duty on the part of the officers suspended. Therefore, the act of suspension is illegal and vindictive and the Pensioners Association condemns it.
The association argued that at a time when consumers of the State are suffering from load shedding for hours, then why cannot the popular Chief Minister stand disruption of power for a few minutes.
On the other hand, it is the duty and responsibility of the PWD (Electrical) to arrange backup power supply in government guest houses, Chief Ministers residence, circuit houses, etc., and in such cases APDCL or AEGCL officers are not responsible, it said, calling for revocation of the suspension orders.
