Suspected Bangla hawala racketeer nabbed

SHILLONG, Jan 17 � The Border Security Force has nabbed a suspected Bangladeshi hawala racketeer and another national from the neighbouring country for suspected links with militants in Garo Hills of Meghalaya.

BSF troops nabbed a Bangladeshi national � Dilawar Hussain, while he was trying to flee through the Jaintia Hills sector. Indian currency amounting to over Rs 1 lakh and Bangladeshi currency amounting to about Taka 30,000 was seized from his possession.

The BSF suspects that Hussain is part of a larger gang involved in the Hawala racket.

The BSF also seized four mobile phones with two Bangladeshi SIM cards, his passport and identity card.

The BSF also nabbed one John Marak, another Bangladeshi national when he was trying to infiltrate into India in the Garo Hills sector. The BSF said Marak is being interrogated for possible links with militant groups of Garo Hills.
