SILCHAR, Aug 26 - The Cachar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday organised a protest rally against the Congress party and local MP Susmita Dev, and held a public meeting here at the Narsingtola ground.

The partys top brass, including the Member of Parliament from Darjeeling, SS Ahluwalia, the former minister and MP, Kabindra Purakaystha, the former MLA, Parimal Suklabaidya, the local MLA, Dilip Kumar Paul, the state general secretary, Dr Rajdeep Roy, the district BJP president, Kaushik Rai, the party spokesperson, Awadesh Kumar Singh, led the rally.

Speaking in the meeting, SS Ahluwalia slammed the Silchar MP for her role in disrupting the activities of the Parliament in the recently concluded Monsoon Session due to which passing of many important Bills was stalled. Lashing out hard at the Congress Parliamentarian, Ahluwalia said, Susmita, being one of the frontline leaders in the logjam, played a key role in blocking the welfare policies of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

He went on to say that it is a shame on the part of Susmita to behave in such a manner inside the House of the People. This in fact, has harmed the interest of the electorates of her constituency who expect her to raise voice for their development, Ahluwalia added.

He said that because of the logjam created by the Congress MPs as many as 23 important Bills could not be passed. The GST Bill, which was the most important of all the Bills, was stalled by the Congress, which according to Ahluwalia, is largely anti-people.
