Sushmita questions BJP candidates stand on CAB

By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, March 29 - Silchar MP Sushmita Dev has questioned the double-faced stance of BJPs Lok Sabha candidate Dr Rajdip Roy on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill-2016.

Referring to a statement made to the media by Roy that CAB is not an issue for Lok Sabha election, Sushmita trained her gun at her principal political opponent by saying, if the Bill is not an issue, why is the BJP candidate dishing out hopes of passing the Bill and what led the AGP to stage such a drama of quitting the alliance and coming back at the cusp of the election.

Also, she took a potshot at the BJP by clarifying that the Government has not released the last instalment of Rs 2.5 crore of the MPLAD fund while she has utilised Rs 21.10 crore against 888 schemes in the past five years of her tenure. There are ongoing works worth Rs 1.49 crore, she added.

On the other hand, Sushmita Dev said the model village concept of the Prime Minister has been a big jumla as no money has been sanctioned for the adoption of villages.

Many of the BJP MPs are disappointed over non-sanction of funds for adoption of model villages. It has been a big farce by the BJP government, Sushmita maintained.

She further said that once the Congress party comes to power, people of India will benefit from the schemes like Nyay and Minimum Income Guarantee for the youths struggling with unemployment.
