GUWAHATI, April 9 ��After successful completion of training at Rehabilitation Training Camp, Tamulpur, five surrendered militants were awarded performance certificates during a valedictory ceremony on April 6.
In his address, Colonel KPR Hari, Vir Chakra, Officiating Commander, Tamulpur Brigade of Red Horns Division, complimented the awardees for shunning the path of violence and joining the national mainstream.�
This was the sixth valedictory ceremony held at the Rehabilitation Training Camp at Tamulpur which was re-opened in November, 2007 at Tamulpur with the aim of helping surrendered militants in earning a livelihood.�Since inception, 197 persons have been trained in various fields. Facilities for training in driving, vehicle maintenance, computer education, carpentry, tailoring, music, fishery and bee keeping are available at the centre. Trainees can choose any one of these as per their interest and aptitude, a press statement from the Army public relations wing mentioned.
Out of the five trainees who completed the training this time, four have accomplished training in driving and one in computer education. The Indian Army with the support of the Assam Government and police is making concerted efforts to ensure that these surrendered militants are given full help and support so that they can earn their living and lead a happy life.
