Support to stir against lynching of Dr Dutta

GUWAHATI, Sept 3 - In solidarity with the Indian Medical Association Assam Chapter�s call for a 24-hour long strike in protest against the lynching of Dr Deben Dutta by some tea garden workers at Teok, all doctors of the city-based Down Town hospital today extended their support for withdrawal of all non-essential services.

Except emergency services, all OPDs and elective admissions remained closed, stated a press release issued by the hospital.

Meanwhile, the All Assam Malaria Employees� Association (AAMEA) also extended support to the call for withdrawal of medical services, excluding emergency, by doctors all over the State on Tuesday.

The Association, while mourning the heinous killing, has called upon the authorities concerned to ensure that such incidents do not recur in future, stated a press release issued here today.
