GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - The NF Railway Mazdoor Union has extended its support to the nationwide general strike called by trade unions on September 2 against the policies of the Central government.
In a statement, the NF Railway Mazdoor Union said that the Narendra Modi-led Union government has been working against the interests of workers and farmers, while weakening labour laws to favour the big corporate houses.
It said that the NDA regime is trying to privatise various sectors, including the railways. The Mazdoor Union said that the September 2 general strike is intended to force the government to give up its anti-worker policies.
Meanwhile, several other trade unions of the State have extended support to the nationwide general strike on September 2 and will take out a procession on September 1 as a mark of support.
