Super lifelong membership for MN Hazarika

MORIGAON, Dec 13 - Mahendra Nath Hazarika, a retired professor of Kampur College and a senior journalist of Morigaon district formally received the �Param Hitaishee Suhreed Sadasya� (Best Well Wisher Member) of Asam Sahitya Sabha at a function held here on December 11.

It may be mentioned here that the Asam Sahitya Sabha launched a special membership drive from October 11 this year and the �Param Hitaisee Suhreed Sadasya� is the super life long membership given to those who donate Rs 1 lakh to the highest literary body of the State. Mahendra Nath Hazarika, is the first person of Morigaon district to receive this membership. In a function held on December 11, Padum Rajkhowa, office secretary of the Asam Sahitya Sabha, formally handed over the membership to Hazarika.

Speaking on the occasion, Harendra Bora, president, Morigaon Zila Sahitya Sabha thanked and extended gratitude to Mahendra Nath Hazarika for his generous donation to the Asam Sahitya Sabha.

Mahendra Nath Hazarika, a former president of the Morigaon District Journalists� Association is a dramatist-cum-actor and has authored several books. He wrote a one-act play namely Bhadari based on Sahityarathi Lakhminath Bezborua�s short story Bhadari which was staged in several places in the State.
