GUWAHATI, July 2 � Superintendent of Diphu Jail, from where four prisoners including a murder accused escaped on June 23, has been placed under suspension by the Home department, official sources claimed.
The decision to suspend Ashok Goswami, the superintendent, was taken after a preliminary investigation found laxity on his part, sources said.
If sources are to be believed, the Home department is soon going to effect massive reshuffle in the prisons, especially keeping in view those who are stationed in the same jail for a number of years.
�There are reports emerging about persons, especially those dealing with security issues, stationed in the same jail including in Guwahati Central Jail, for the last many years without any transfer. Recently one such person was transferred after almost 12 years. Longer stay in a particular jail paves way for a number of problems, which we are trying to do away with,� sources stated.
