GUWAHATI, Dec 2 - Sunrise AC of Guwahati annexed the trophy of the 9th GR Cup Invitation Football Tournament organised by Guwahati Refinery by defeating Navajyoti Club of Guwahati 2-0. In an exciting final match played under floodlights at the Sector-II playground of Guwahati Refinery on Friday, both the teams played competitive football in front of a 1000-strong crowd with repeated attacks and counter-attacks. Bright Mends ensured a brace to bring the trophy home for Sunrise.
The champions were handed a cheque of Rs 75,000 while Navajyoti Club received a cheque of Rs 50,000. Bright Mends was adjudged best player of the tournament and was handed a cheque of Rs 5,000.
