GUWAHATI, Jan 16 - The Diamond Jubilee celebration of city based Sunrise Athletic Club got underway on Monday with the hoisting of Diamond Jubilee and club flags in their own club premises at the Kahilipara Colony Bazar.
The Diamond Jubilee flag was unfurled by founder member Badal Das while the club�s flag was hoisted by president Badal Dey.
The club also conducted two programmes on the opening day of the six-month-long celebration. GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania inaugurated the tree plantation programme and the club also distributed warm clothes to the needy people of the locality.
Informing this the Sunrise Club secretary Arup Kalita said that several programmes will be carried out during the next one and a half month to mark the occasion.
