GUWAHATI, June 13 - The Regional Science Centre (RSC), Guwahati, will be organising �Summer Vacation Hobby Camps� for children on the Centre�s Khanapara premises from July 1 to 22.

The hobby camps will be for students from Classes III to XII and will focus on �Science with art and creativity� which will seek to provide a basic knowledge of understanding science through hands-on activities with fun, �Computer Aided Design or CAD� which will give students a chance to design their product from 2D sketch to 3D model and print it in 3D printer, �Nature Exploration� which will be an art of gardening, Fish Aquarium and hands-on experiments with biology, �Science with creativity� which seeks to provide a basic knowledge of understanding science through hands-on activities, and �Robotic and Aero-modelling� where students will be given basic knowledge of designing and making airplanes and robots.

The participants in all groups will be taken to some scientific laboratories or industry as an educational excursion on July 22.

RSC officials said that summer hobby camps provide students a unique platform to develop their innovative ideas into a meaningful kit or model.

This also provides children an opportunity to work in a team and effective utilization of summer holidays. It is a nodal point for all those students who have a desire to explore science by practically doing experiment with fun. The activities of hobby camp help in building self-confidence of children, they added.
