Summary revision of electoral rolls in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA, Oct 7 � With the publication of draft electoral roll of three Legislative Assembly Constituencies namely 122 Tinsukia, 123 Digboi and 125 Doomdooma with a total voters of 1,41,613, 1,12,714 and 1,20,482 respectively under the Tinsukia Election Office, the special summary revision procedure started on Saturday last with an elaborate programme.

Accordingly, from October 1 to November 1, claims and objections will be received and on October 8 and 11, verification of names, reading of relevant parts or sections of photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha and local bodies will be held. On October 9, 16 and 23 special campaigns with booth level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections will be held. Disposal of claims and objection will be completed by December 1, 2011 and January 5, 2012 has been set for final publication of electoral rolls.

Sushanta Dutta, Election Officer, Tinsukia has briefed the process of the special summary revision of the electoral rolls to the media persons today and appealed for wide publicity for the benefit of the public. The department will also organise awareness programmes at various places beside observing the National Voters Days� on January 25 next year.
