HAILAKANDI, June 20 - State Minister for Forest and Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya reviewed the progress of various State government schemes and flagship programmes to ensure their timely implementation.

At a meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner in the conference hall here recently, Suklabaidya asked the district heads of different departments to ensure timely utilisation of funds allocated so that the fruits of development reach out to the people. He directed them to focus their energies on flagship programmes of national importance.

He particularly reviewed implementation of various welfare schemes, including PMGSY. The minister reviewed the status of progress of Public Health Engineering departments 14 ongoing piped water supply schemes as well as Katlicherra bypass and Dholeswar bypass under PWD (NH).

In an interaction with senior officials and district heads, Suklabaidya gave directions to the departments and sought a response in a time-bound manner on certain issues of importance.

The programmes that came up for review and monitoring on an urgent basis include the PWDs Matijuri bridge to ease traffic flow. Some departments were asked to submit progress reports to the minister.

While the Chief Secretary has been asked to issue the necessary instructions to all concerned, the Chief Minister has made it clear that the ministers would be required to chair review meetings which would be facilitated by the Deputy Commissioners (DCs). The DCs will also ensure the presence of all district heads of various departments concerned at the review meetings.

The move is aimed to ensure that the various welfare-oriented schemes and development projects of the State and Central governments are strictly implemented and the benefits of the same percolate down to the last entitled person. The ministers have been asked to submit regular reports about the progress of various schemes. The Chief Minister will personally review the progress and intervene where necessary, an official said.

Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli also urged the district heads of various departments to pitch in their efforts for implementation of welfare schemes and development programmes within the stipulated time-frame.

Earlier, the minister was given a detailed presentation by Deputy Commissioner Jalli and other senior officials on various schemes and projects being implemented by the departments in the district.

The presentation covered recent achievements, details of major ongoing projects and the slew of new initiatives, said an official.
