Sukapha Divas celebrations at Dhemaji

DHEMAJI, Nov 30 - Brisk preparations are on to celebrate the 788th Sukapha Divas (Asam Divas) in West Dhemaji on Bordhekera Primary School premises on December 2 under the aegis of Batgharia anchalik unit of the All Tai Ahom Students� Union (ATASU) with great enthusiasm.

In this connection, a celebration committee has been constituted with headmaster Shashi Dihingia as president, Putul Changmai as working president and Jadu Boruah as secretary and seven 7 other sub-committees.

As per the schedule, the day will begin with flag hoisting at 9 am by Shashi Dihingia, president, celebration committee which will be followed by maidam tarpan and garlanding of Sukapha�s portrait. Then a ritual ceremony will be held at 11 am. Subsequently drawing and quiz competitions will be organised among the students.

The open meeting on the occasion will be held in the evening. The meeting to be chaired by Babul Buragohain, president, Dhemaji district unit of ATASU, will be inaugurated by Manik Chandra Gogoi, president, Dhemaji Jila Poy Phuralung Sangha. The meeting will be graced by Litul Buragohain, president, All Tai Ahom Students� Union and RA Korati, Deputy Commissioner, Dhemaji as chief guests while Bhuban Pegu, MLA, Jonai, Paramananda Chayengia, chairman, Mising Autonomous Council and noted social activist Sailen Sonowal will participate in the meeting as distinguished guests.

On the other hand, litterateur Umesh Chetia, Sukapha Award winning researcher scholar Dr Puspa Gogoi, Bimal Rajkhowa, president, Dhemaji Jila Sahitya Sabha, Dr Kamal Gogoi, principal, Moridhal College and several others will attend the open meeting as appointed speakers while chief editor of television channel Assam Talks, Atanu Bhuyan and senior journalist of television channel Pratidin Time, Rajdeep Boruah Bailung will be present in the meeting as invited guests.

At night, a cultural function will be organised which will be participated by several artiste including Bipin Chaodang. The cultural night will be inaugurated by Nilesh Sawakare, Superintendent of Police, Dhemaji. The celebration committee has solicited the presence and corporation of people for grand success of the celebration.
