NALBARI, Nov 6 - Rich tributes were paid to Sangeet Surya Dr Bhupen Hazarika at various functions held on the occasion of his fourth death anniversary here on Thursday.
The Nalbari district administration and the Nalbari Municipality Board paid tributes to the legendary artist at the Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika children park. The Nalbari town committee of AJYCP also organised the dearth anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika at Nalbari MNC Balika Mahavidyalaya in the evening. The programme was inaugurated by Krishna Kanta Gaud, principal of the college. The Nalbari Anchalik unit of AASU also paid tributes to the artist at a function held at Nalbari Deviram Pathshala High School. Kaithalkuchi Sambadik Santha, Nalbari Zilla Sahitya Sabha, Nalbari College Teachers unit and its students body also paid tributes in separate function.
Tinsukia: Alongwith the rest of the State, people of Tinsukia too paid rich tributes to the great bard, Dr Bhupen Hazarika on his fourth death anniversary On Thursday. People from different walks of life, different organisations etc., paid floral tributes at his life size statue at the Thana Chariali here. Veteran cultural activist, poet, dramatist and former Head Master of Bipin Bora High School garlanded the statue and paid homage to the great son of Assam. A cultural evening too was organised in the evening to mark the occasion.
Diphu: The fourth death anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika was observed with various competitions and programmes in entire Karbi district Anglong including Diphu here on Thursday.
The day was observed by the different social organisations at Diphu Club with a day-long programme.
The day was also observed in Howraghat, Bakalia, Bokajan, Langhin and Baithalangso.S
