GUWAHATI, March 12 - The Narayana Superspeciality Hospital recently completed the second kidney transplant surgery successfully, this time on a young patient from Morigaon district, Rakibur Rahman.
Rahman, the 27-year-old kidney recipient, had been battling kidney failure for quite a long time at such a young age, requiring dialysis. He was undergoing treatment under consultant nephrologist Dr Hamad Jeelani.
Dr Jeelani said, �The kidney transplant surgery of Rahman was undertaken by the hospital on February 9. I congratulate the entire team on its successful completion.�
Consultant laparoscopic and renal transplant surgeon Dr Saikat Mallik said Rahman had a very smooth recovery after surgery and was discharged from the hospital within 10 days. He is now on regular close follow-up, Dr Mallik said. He emphasized that transplant is the best modality of treatment for both quality and quantity of life in patients with chronic renal failure.
The hospital launched the kidney transplant surgery on October 17, 2019.
