Success story of a farmer

MORIGAON, Dec 13 � At a time when unemployed youths of the State are hankering after government jobs, a marginal farmer of Natun Bangalbari village of Mayong revenue circle in Morigaon district has shown exemplary self-employed path by achieving success in Musk melon cultivation.

Nabajyoti Deka, a young progressive farmer of Natun Bangalbari village started Musk melon cultivation in the Seuji Puthibharal ground measuring two bigha with the help of �Know you seed India Ltd., Kolkata�. He completed his harvesting for the third time within 3 month i.e. October, November and December, achieving a net profit of Rs 2.50 lakh. Initially he supplied his products to the Guwahati market at the rate of Rs 50 per kg of Musk melon. Presently he supplied his fruits to the Kolkata market.

Nabajyoti, while talking to this correspondent said that he would start tomato and water melon cultivation in a scientific way. A graduate, Nabajyoti was inspired by his villagers. His farm was visited by Taiwan agriculturists, besides receiving scientific suggestion from Agricultural experts from Pune. Following in the footsteps of Nabajyoti, as many as 10 youths of the same village have started vegetable farming in empty land of Seuji Puthibharal.
