Subdivisional court opened

HATSINGIMARI, Jan 5 - The subdivisional judicial court at Hatsingimari, headquarters of South Salmara Mankachar subdivision of Dhubri district was opened on Saturday. The South Salmara Mankachar subdivision was formed in 1983 and since then the people have been demanding a judicial court at Hatsingimari because the poor people of the locality had to go to Dhubri by crossing the mighty Brahmaputra, wasting at least two days, for any kind of judicial task.

The long-awaited demand was fulfilled on Saturday with the inauguration of the court, presently functioning from a rented house. The court was inaugurated by Justice Biplab Kumar Sarma, the judge in-charge, Administrative department, Gauhati High Court at 2 pm in the presence of a large number of local dignitaries. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, of the Gauhati High Court and portfolio judge, Dhubri district participated as a special guest while Rajib Goswami, District & Sessions Judge, Dhubri, Nazrul Islam, DC, Dhubri, Zabed Islam, MLA, Mankachar, Fazlul Hoque, president, Dhubri Bar Association, Nazrul Islam, president, Hatsingimari Bar Association and others took part as invited guests.

In his speech, Justice Biplab Kumar Sarma said that the inauguration of the court would solve the long-pending problem of the backward locality, covering Sukchar and Mankachar police stations and Hatsingimari police out post areas of Dhubri district.
