Sub-jr national wrestling gets off

GUWAHATI, Jan 22 - The Sub-junior National Wrestling Championship got underway at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today.

Altogether 850 young wrestlers from 30 States are taking part in the meet which has been counted as a trial championship for the upcoming 12th South Asian Games (SAG).

The wrestling event of the SAG will be conducted in this stadium while the SAG organising committee is holding this championship in association with the Assam Wrestling Association and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

Today, Brij Bhoshan Charan Singh, the WFI president formally inaugurated the meet in the opening ceremony where top officials of the SAG organising committee were also present.

Today�s final results: (Below 60kg girls) gold- Anshu (Haryana), silver-Pooja Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), bronze-Tamana (Himachal Pradesh), 2nd bronze-Anshu Gujjar (Uttar Pradesh). (Below 49 kg girls) gold-Meenakshi (Haryana), silver-Manshi Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), bronze-Unnati Rather (Delhi), 2nd bronze-Nisha Tomar (Uttar Pradesh). (Below 40kg girls) gold-Anju (Haryana), silver-Anju (Chandigarh), bronze-Tannu (Rajasthan), 2nd bronze-Mansi (Haryana).
