SUALKUCHI, May 8 � The Sualkuchi Utsav, an initiative of the Kamrup district administration to provide exposure to the products of the artisans based in the silk village of Assam, will be held here on May 10. The district administration discussed the organisation of the Sualkuchi Utsav in a meeting held recently with Dr J Balaji, Deputy Commissioner, in the chair.
The meeting held a threadbare discussion on different programmes for the fair. A health mela will be held and bank authorities will distribute loan patras among the weavers. A fashion show featuring the local products will be held in the evening, which will be followed by a cultural show.
The Sualkuchi Utsav will be held in collaboration with the North East Fashion Show and the Assam Government. The district administration has invited the people to the Utsav and extend full cooperation to make it a success.
