Study circle on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code

GUWAHATI, May 11 - The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), North Eastern Chapter held a study circle for its members and students on professional development on the topic �Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC)� here on Thursday, said a press release issued today.

The programme was coordinated by Kushal Bharat Bagadia, secretary, ICSI, NE Chapter and was attended by Justice Jinan Kumar, Judicial Member NCLT as chief guest and Anjan Kumar Roy, past EIRC chairman as speaker.

Justice Jinan enlightened the members present on the practical aspects of IBC and the problems faced by companies, lenders, professionals and his personal opinion on how it can be improved. He also asked the young members of ICSI to come up and start the practice of NCLT, IBC and appreciated the role of company secretaries.

Anjan Roy spoke about the intricacies of the law. He also cleared the doubts and queries of the members in the session.

Earlier, Vikash Jain, chairman of ICSI, NE Chapter, welcomed Justice Jinan and Anjan Roy. He said the NE Chapter is a very young chapter in that almost 60 per cent of its members are below the age of 35. This, he said, is the reason why the chapter is young, energetic and vibrant.
