Students worried as exam dates coincide

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 24 - With the dates of the All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) and the Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Dibrugarh University coinciding, there is consternation among the desirous students and their guardians.

The AIPVT, conducted by the Veterinary Council of India, which is a statutory body established under the provisions of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984, is scheduled to be held on May 14 next.

But the Dibrugarh University authorities have also announced that the CEE for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and engineering courses of the State, would also be held on May 14 and 15, leading to consternation of the desirous students and their guardians.

The Veterinary Council of India conducts the AIPVT for admission to Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BV Sc) and Animal Husbandry (AH) courses for filling up 15 per cent of the all-India quota seats in the veterinary colleges of the country (except Jammu & Kashmir).

This time, students of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur and Rajasthan are also participating in the All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) 2016 for admission into BV Sc and Animal Husbandry courses for filling up State quota seats (other than 15 per cent all-India quota) in their veterinary colleges.

Since the date of the all-India test conducted by the Veterinary Council cannot be altered because of the size of the exercise and the area it covers, guardians here are of the view that the Dibrugarh University authorities should defer the dates of its CEE by a few days to enable the students who are sitting in the AIPVT, to appear in the CEE too.
