Students interact with police officer, bureaucrat

GUWAHATI, Oct 2 - The Department of Political Science, Handique Girls� College took a few Major students to the IGP (SB) office here on September 26 where the students had an interactive session with the officers of IGP (SB) office regarding cyber crime, said a press release issued today.

Hiren Ch Nath, IGP SB interacted with the students and made them aware about the dangerous consequences of misuse of social media, mobile phone, etc.

The students got the opportunity to clear their doubts about the role of police in handling extremists groups.

On the same day the Major students also visited Assam Secretariat where they were familiarised with the mode of functioning of the finance and urban development departments by Secretary of Finance and Urban Development Hitesh Dev Sharma. The students were accompanied by Dr Archana Sarma.

The Department of Political Science also organised its first annual lecture with the release of the first volume of the departmental periodical Elenchus on September 29. On the occasion IGP SB Hiren Ch Nath delivered a lecture on �Indian Democracy: Its Strength and Weaknesses�, the release further said.
