TURA, Sept 18 - A student leader from Songsak village has been arrested by East Garo Hills Police on charges of raping a minor girl on multiple occasions.
The accused, identified as Riprap T Sangma, belongs to Chidimit Nengsat village under the Songsak PS. Riprap is the regional secretary of the Songsak unit of the Garo Students� Union.
According to police sources, an FIR was filed by the victim�s parents on Monday.
Sources said that the accused had been constantly threatening the girl not to reveal the alleged rape.
Confirming the arrest, East Garo Hills SP Ringrang TG Momin stated that the accused had been forwarded to the court after his court. He has been charged under various sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
