Student from Assam wins Korean contest

NEW DELHI, Nov 5 - Anubhuti Kakati from Assam won the first prize in the Global Korean Language Speaking and Writing Contest 2020.

The award ceremony was held in the National Hangeul Museum in Seoul, South Korea.

Kakati was hailed as the final winner in the contest, title of which was �Meeting Korea Through Online,� with her story of pursuing her dream to be a Korean language teacher by listening to Korean music and Korean lecture programmes.

First Lady Kim Jungsook, who visited India twice in 2018, focused on the two countries� symbiotic relationship. �The whole world�s interest about Korea and the Korean language is getting heated with the rapid spread of Korean culture wave (Hallyu). I hope you, who are learning Korean, to be a bridge between Korean and your country and the whole world,� the First Lady said.

The King Sejong Institute Korean language speaking and writing contest is held annually. This year, 1,918 students from 46 countries participated in the speaking category, and 1,031 from 33 countries in the writing category. A total of 16 winners in each category will be invited to Korea for a scholarship programme in Korean universities. Shin Bong-kil, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, hoped that more Indian students would study Korean and be a �bridge between two countries.�
