Student felicitated

GUWAHATI, March 14 - The Prabhat Chandra Srutikar Memorial Education Trust, which was established in 2012 and has Prof Nilima Bhagabati as its chairperson and Nandini Sarma Srutikar as secretary, awarded a trophy, a citation, books and one-time financial grant to Gitika Talukdar of the Bausi BK College in Barpeta district for securing the first rank in the degree examination under the Gauhati University in 2015 with Education as major.

A function was held yesterday in this regard at the Guwahati Press Club with Dr Suresh Nath, Registrar, GU, as the chief guest and noted social worker and writer Mrinalini Devi and Dr DJ Choudhury, Controller, GU, as guests of honour.

Earlier, the chief guest lighted the ceremonial lamp and lauded the Trust for working selflessly for the new generation, particularly the student community. Both the guests of honour stressed the need for more such trusts and organisations in society dedicated to the cause of education and the student community.

On the occasion, a write-up sent by Gunin Sarma of Titabar was read out. Earlier, Prof Bhagabati welcomed the invitees and highlighted the objective of the Trust. She also handed over to Gitika an amount of Rs 5,000 from her personal end.

The Trust was launched with the objective of giving recognition and honouring students showing excellent results in the degree examination held under the Gauhati University and securing the highest marks in Education as major.
