GUWAHATI, April 23 � A strong wind lashed the city around 8 this evening resulting in power cuts in different parts of Guwahati. The speed of the wind is reported to be around 50 kmph.
According to weather office sources here, the cyclonic circulation, which is lying over west Assam and its neighbouring Bhutan and Meghalaya extending up to 0.9 kilometre above the sea level with a trough aloft up to 3.6 kilometre above sea level, caused the wind. The wind originated from the direction of west Bhutan , sources said.
Earlier, the weather office had issued a warning on such a possibility of strong wind.
